Tours
With a range of activities to explore, Thobeka Backpackers next
to Kosi Bay is well-placed to embark on a few adventurous African
experiences. Whether you're an adventure seeking explorer, a
culture vulture, a nature lover, sporty or all of the above, the
surroundings have something exciting for you to experience.

With an average of 200 days of sunshine per year, activities
include snorkelling at Kosi Bay Mouth, swimming in the warm
untouched Kosi Bay beach or taking a hike through the
sub-tropical Raffia Forest.

Eye-opening African experiences for the culture vulture include
day trips to the Hole in the wall market on the South African/
Mozambican border where you are sure to be entertained by the
hustle and bustle of everyday African market style busy-ness.
You may find some locals in everyday mode enjoying the jolly
effects of Mozambican rum in the afternoon, whilst others
feverishly sell their wares unperturbed by the resulting circus.
A colourful and entertaining experience indeed.

Our cultural centre/village set up by a local villagers offers visitors
an insight into true African day-to-day living. A Boma (a round zulu hut) is situated in the centre of a kraal where you can eat traditional Zulu
food made by the locals, drink traditional beer, sleep on animal skins on the ground in the boma which is surrounded by livestock, learn
some Zulu and share some of your language, experience the resident Sangoma (witch doctor), join in African dancing, beat an African drum
(djembe), immerse yourself in the rhythm of Africa and embrace this unforgettable cultural experience. Pioneering adventurous backpackers
can join us on our four (4) day Mozambican Tent Safari where we camp near the beach in Ponta (Mozambique), learn bush cooking (in the
ground, over fires) and enjoy the beaches and friendliness of the Mozambican people. Join us for a day boat trip on the lake where we picnic
under a gazebo on a boat on the lake. We take a minimum of 6 people so gather your friends to share in the experience of lunching, seeing
great fish, enjoying the vastness of this exquisite lake and if you're lucky you may even see a hippo.

“On a day trek, had a great day in Mozambique and Kosi beach, just great, the beach is warm, blue and the most scenic beach I have
seen in SA”
